Role Overview
Jewish students at Brooklyn College, and Kingsborough Community College served by Tanger Hillel, have different needs and demands on their time than a typical Jewish student on a traditional residential campus. They may have childcare responsibilities for younger siblings and jobs that fund their education and/or contribute to household income. Students on commuter campuses are predominantly from working class and/or immigrant families and many are the first in their family to attend college.
At Tanger Hillel, we cultivate holistic approaches to successfully engage commuter students in Jewish life. The Wellness Program at Tanger Hillel has 3 primary initiatives: 1:1 mental health support and referrals, Kosher Food assistance, and student wellness programs. With these aspects available for all students at Tanger Hillel, we are better equipped to empower our students around their physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellness.
Tanger Hillel is now seeking a part-time social worker to join our Wellness team in the provision of social work services and wellness-centric engagement work with Tanger Hillel students.
